About Austin

Situated on 100 oak-covered acres, Southern Star K9 Training Center is surrounded by the picturesque Texas Hill Country. Just 20 minutes from Austin's city limits, we are convenient to shopping, restaurants, area lakes, golf courses, parks, theaters, museums and more. Serving as the Capitol of Texas, Austin also offers the LBJ Library , the University of Texas, and many other historical sites. Visitors to our city are thrilled with all that Austin has to offer.

Lodging at Southern Star K9 Training Center

We offer our "Bunkhouse" when space is available for lodging and there are hotels and bed and breakfasts close by.

Training Facilities

As with most training facilities, most activities are performed outside. Huge trees shade the area, making it comfortable for working dogs. We have covered areas used for training scent detection work as well as an air-conditioned classroom for lectures and video presentations.

Kennel Area

Our kennels consist of indoor/outdoor kennels as well as out door only kennels. All kennels are 6' tall, chain link fencing with concrete flooring for easy cleaning. We have kennel space for 50 dogs. Each student will be responsible for maintaining the kennels for all dogs they are working.

Tracking Area

Tracking exercises are performed on our 100 acre site, which eliminates long drives to a suitable area.
